“Easter Earth-65” is a shot I created for a group project called Cartoon City at Vancouver Film School. The goal of the project was to capture a holiday celebration taking place in a city somewhere around the world.
The art- style of this shot was inspired by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, specifically Gwen Stacy’s universe, Earth-65. The Spider-Verse films blend 2D artistic aesthetics with 3D animation techniques to create a unique and visually compelling look, which I aimed to emulate in this piece.
For this shot, I modeled the bridge and one of the buildings in Maya. I textured the assets using Substance Painter and created the hand-painted graffiti beneath the bridge in Procreate. The scene was rendered in Maya and composited in Photoshop and Nuke to create the final image.
